Certificate IV In I.T.

Certificate IV (Course code ICA40199 - Client Support) Course cost:
Certificate IV $895.
Combined Certificate III and IV Only $1295

This is an advanced level course that assumes you have a good level of computing skills. If you feel you have the skills that are covered in the topics in the Certificate III course, you can undertake this course.

All Cottonsoft Certificate courses are accredited by DETIR in Queensland and by vocational education training and employment authorities in every Australian state and territory. The distance education format allows participants to work at their own pace and on their own PC to gain computing skills and knowledge. This distance education course is based on the User Support Competencies developed by the Information Technology ITAB.

Unlike many correspondence courses when you study with Cottonsoft you receive the entire course and all of the assessment items when you start. The choice of when to study and how hard you work is up to you. At Cottonsoft we have a "hands off" study policy - a method of study that puts you in the drivers seat. You are not directed to have readings read, sections completed, or assessment in by any set dates. You have 12 months to complete this course if you choose to take that long. We do however provide full support and personal assistance when you request it.

The course package that is supplied to participants includes easy to understand but comprehensive notes, activities and software. More details on the contents of the course notes are available. There are carefully sequenced topics presented in an attractive, high quality binder. The course uses a spiral curriculum structure to ensure that all concepts are developed and reinforced. Activities require the participant to apply the new concepts to their own situation. Assistance is available through our on-line tutors via our toll free phone support lines. Assistance is also available through our web site and email.

Assessment is by submission of assignments that require completion of tasks at the end of each topic.

The qualifications through DETIR are recognised throughout Australia. Recognition of the prior learning involved in the competencies achieved in this course is given by all universities, colleges and registered training organizations throughout Australia.

Note that the National Standards for IT have a significant overlap in units between Certificate III and IV. Where a unit of competency is set down as a requirement for either certificate level, there is no difference in the standards required for achieving that competency.

We have designed our sequence of topics with an emphasis on logical development of your IT knowledge and skills rather than whether a topic is Certificate III or IV. We have also made the assumption that most students will opt to complete a combined Certificate III and IV.

The contents of each section of the course have been reproduced here to allow you to appreciate the broad but detailed scope of the course as well as the carefully planned development of competency.

This course is divided into 5 main sections:

The technical specifications of the competencies (skills) included in our Certificate IV in Information Technology ICA40199 (Client Support) course are listed below.

For AUSTUDY and Education Allowance purposes this Certificate IV course is regarded as a 500 hour course.
