This course can be undertaken by people with no or very limited computer skills.

This Certificate II course will give you skills and confidence to use a computer and if you wish to undertake specialised courses in a variety of areas that computer skills offer.

Unlike many correspondence courses when you study with Cottonsoft you receive the entire course and all of the assessment items when you start. The choice of when to study and how hard you work is up to you. At Cottonsoft/Flexlearn we have a "hands off" study policy - a method of study that puts you in the drivers seat. You are not directed to have readings read, sections completed, or assessment in by any set dates. You have one year to complete this course if you choose to take that long. We do provide full support and personal assistance when you request it. That help is available 7 days a week on a free call 1800 number or by email for all students within Australia. Overseas students also receive phone supporton a call back basis.

The unlimited Support course provides the student with a personal tutor and assessment can be tailored to your specific needs, examples and activities in the course work can be related to specific employment or industry areas that are required by the student.

The majority of new jobs and most of the careers where promotion/advancement is possible require extensive computer skills. It is estimated that 80% of new jobs require computer skills. The use of computers for entertainment and education is also booming. Without the understanding needed to use this technology to its greatest potential, you will miss out on many valuable experiences.

If you have developed your computer knowledge through trial and error, how do you fill in the gaps and/or gain recognition/qualifications of your skills?

You will gain the broad range of skills and knowledge to effectively use a PC in the workplace ... and be confident enough to help others.

The distance education (correspondence) format allows participants to work at their own pace and on their own PC to gain computing skills and knowledge.

The course package that is supplied to participants includes easy to understand but comprehensive notes, activities and software. More details on the contents of the course topics are available in the course contents page. There are 30 carefully sequenced topics presented in an attractive, high quality binder. Software includes a multimedia CD on operating systems, a touch typing tutor, a multimedia tutorial program and an activities disk. The course uses a spiral curriculum structure to ensure that all concepts are developed and reinforced. Activities require the participant to apply the new concepts to their own situation. Assistance is available through our on-line tutors via our toll free phone support lines. Assistance is also available through our web site, fax and email.

Assessment is by submission of 3 assignments that require completion of tasks at the end of each topic. These assessment items are sent to Cottonsoft for marking.
